8th Summit for Space Sustainability
The 8th Summit for Space Sustainability is a high-level international conference focused on practical solutions for the long-term sustainability of space activities. It will bring together policymakers, space agencies, industry leaders, researchers and civil society to discuss responsible space governance, orbital sustainability, international cooperation and equitable access to space. This is the first edition of the Summit to take place in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Summit will explore how governments, space agencies and industry can ensure that outer space remains safe, accessible and sustainable for present and future generations. Its programme will address the growing challenges associated with orbital congestion, space debris, satellite operations, space traffic coordination and the responsible expansion of activities beyond Earth orbit.
A particular focus will be placed on Latin American and Caribbean perspectives, including the use of satellite applications for environmental monitoring, agriculture, disaster risk reduction and connectivity. Discussions will also cover international space governance, regulatory frameworks, cooperation between established and emerging space actors, and sustainable lunar and Martian exploration.
